Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We’re excited to spend time with family in Galen’s hometown of Potsdam, New York, for the holiday. There will be food and snow and board games–oh my! In our downtime over the weekend, we’ll spend some time preparing for our upcoming annual holiday tour. December sees us playing public concerts and private events throughout north Florida (with one Nashville date early in the month), and we’ll be doing a New Year’s Eve show in our hometown of Port…Read More
We’ve gotten some questions about the show this coming Sunday in Gainesville. Yes, indeed, it is open to the public! We’ve been traveling a lot and neglected to update the website to reflect the change. The concert was earned by our dear friend Susie Lyons for her generous donation to our Kickstarter campaign last summer, but she has decided to turn it into a charity event open to the public. All are welcome! Details below: Venue: Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Sanctuary Address:…Read More
Heads up to anybody in the ATL area weighing options for a Friday night out: We’re shooting live video of our concert at Red Clay Music Foundry in Duluth, Georgia. The show is this Friday, October 28; doors open at 7pm, and the music kicks off around 8pm. Our Georgia friends Highbeams will be opening, plus we’ll be joined on stage by Sebastian “Dream” Green on the drums and the illustrious Sam Whedon on lead guitar. So if you’ve never seen Highbeams,…Read More
Way, way back in April we threw out an idea for crowd-sourcing a music video: We asked anybody so inclined to film themselves singing and dancing along to “If I Find It,” the first single from our album West of Here. Since then, we have mostly been on the road, traveling and playing throughout the summer, occupied with the touring side of being working musicians. All the while we were receiving a steady stream of clips from friends and fans lip-syncing to…Read More
We’re going cruisin’! After a week of public voting, and then another week of private voting by cruise ticket holders, we were selected as one of three bands to win the Sixthman Soundcheck competition for a spot on The Rock Boat music cruise next February! Yeehaw! We’re thrilled to be included, and very grateful to everyone who cast a vote for us. We owe a very special thanks to Beth Gosnell, who got us involved in this community initially by inviting us to…Read More
We’ve been named on the short list for a music cruise next year! The Rock Boat is essentially the lovechild of a Caribbean cruise and a music festival, featuring such acts as Parachute, Sister Hazel, and Andy Grammer. We’ve been selected as semi-finalists for The Rock Boat’s Soundcheck competition, specifically designed for up-and-comers who haven’t been on the Boat before. We’re excited to be in the running, especially since so many of our friends from the Rock By The Sea charity…Read More
Hello all! It’s been a while since we’ve spoken in this here blog space. The month of July saw us enjoy some much needed R&R in Florida with family. We had a few wedding celebrations, a couple birthdays, and a healthy dose of beach time. Now, feeling refreshed and just a bit wiser, we’re again on the road for an extended fall tour, which we kicked off in Tallahasse before making our way up to Charlottesville, Virginia, to play the Sprint Pavilion…Read More
After a week off for a family wedding–a lovely, intimate affair that featured a few Currys performances, a beautiful beach-side ceremony, and a pair of 8 year-old nieces leading the entire wedding gathering in the Whip/Nae Nae–we are now back in action! It’s officially summertime now, and that means we Currys will be spending the bulk of our days in the Florida panhandle, with occasional excursions up and down the East Coast. Here’s a list of dates over the next couple weeks;…Read More
A couple months ago, we shot a pair of music videos in Charlottesville for songs on our new album West of Here. Here, finally, for your viewing pleasure, is the first of those: “Hold Me Here.” Shot by our good friend Tom Campbell and edited with the assistance of the peerless Yu Gu, the video features Jimmy’s dramatic acting debut… and hey, he’s not bad! We had a great time shooting these videos, and Tom captured some really beautiful scenes of our Cville neighborhood.…Read More
We. Are. Beat. This past weekend we had the pleasure of performing at Rock By The Sea 10, the tenth annual charity music festival on St. George Island, Florida. It was five straight days of live performances, great causes, beach games, and new friends–five straight days of going to bed too late, getting up too early, and then doing it all over again. It was an exhausting, happy blast, and we felt so warmly welcomed. Now we need to sleep for…Read More
