We are thrilled to announce that our song “Gulf Coast Home” won the 2020 Will McLean Song Contest! We submitted the song for the competition last fall, and last week we were pleasantly surprised to learn that it had been selected as the Best New Florida Song. This song means a lot to us, and we are grateful for it to be recognized and appreciated by others. As part of the honor, we are pleased to be performing at the 28th Annual Will McLean Music Festival, a festival that celebrates the achievements of legendary Florida folk songwriter Will McLean. We’ll play an evening set on the first day of the festival, Friday, March 13, as well as perform the song during the song contest presentation that same night.

The festival interviewed and wrote up the top three finalists, and had this to say about “Gulf Coast Home”:

“(The Currys’) winning song in the 2020 Will McLean Best New Florida Song Contest, “Gulf Coast Home,” is a song about lost love, but it’s also a love song for home. The country-tinged nostalgia of the lyrics pays homage to the Currys’ roots in the Florida Panhandle. In the wake of Hurricane Michael, the band offered a free advance download of the song in exchange for donations to disaster relief efforts. To date, the campaign has raised nearly $8000.”
